It’s April already, which means Autumn is officially well under way. April’s name is derived from the Latin word aperit, meaning to open and as it is considered the month of the growing season when the trees and the flowers begin to ‘open’. So using that theme, we hope to open your mind to what’s out there in Wellington by providing you with a list of activities your can get involved with. And don’t worry, these events aren’t going to set you back, as every event below is under $20.
If you know of any other awesome events going on in April, leave us a comment below. We always love hearing from our Roamers.
(Oh, and if you’re confused by the Open Your Mind Spotify link…. It’s dedicated to one of the Roam team, who’s into old school trance music. You know who you are…)
Head over to the Nairn Street Cottage on the 24th for a hands on session of crafting beer using herbs from their very own herb garden.
Mashing, extracting, boiling wort, adding yeast hops and herbs are just some of the skills you will be learning from Kerry Gray from Te Aro Brewing.
Kerry Gray and fellow Te Aro Brewing Founders started off as home brewers before they opened their brewery together and now run these classes in the hopes of introducing you to the joys of brewing also. Plus if it ends up becoming a hobby of yours, you could potentially save some $’s from it too. Maybe it could go towards your next Roam car hire.
Every Sunday of April from 4 – 5 pm, Urban Yoga are offering the perfect way to enter into the week feeling less stressed and more relaxed with their community yoga donation classes.

This is a great option if you’re wanting a stretch, a breather, a chance to rejuvenate or if you’re looking for a way to increase your strength and flexibility these classes are bound to offer some benefit to you.

I’m sure you could also get away with taking down a cheeky bottle of red to enjoy along with dinner.
It’s again time for us to come together as a Nation to pay tribute.
